29.11.1904:   Elsass is commissioned.
15.12.1904:   During the trials, the rudder is damaged.
-Feb 1905:   Repairs.
- May 1905:   Trials and training. After that, the ship is attached to the 2nd Squadron.
May 1905:   Squadron operation in the North and Baltic Sea.
July - Aug 1905:   Summer voyage of the fleet, including visits to Göteborg and  Stockholm.
Sep 1905:   Collision with the artillery training ship Schwaben , both ships are slightly damaged.
Dec 1905:   Fleet operations in the Baltic Sea.
1906-1907:   Elsass takes part in all fleet exercises and operations.
28.04.1908:   An exploding grenade kills 3 crew members, 6 others are wounded.
Jul - Aug 1908:   Summer voyage to the North Atlantic, including a visit to Las Palmas.
Jul - Aug 1909:   Summer voyage to the North Atlantic, including a visit to El Ferrol.
14.12.1910:   Used for coastal defenses in the North Sea.
03.10.1911:   The ship is attached to the 1st Squadron.
23.03.1912:   During exercises in the North Sea, the Elsass rams the Swedish steamer Pollux which sinks after the collision.
Apr 1912:   Used as a target ship for the Blücher near the Faroers Islands.
29.04.1912:   Removed form the 1st Squadron, crew is reduced.
08.12.1912:   Attached to the 5th Division.
Jan - Mar 1913:   Exercises in the North and Baltic Sea.
13.05.1913:   Decommissioned, transferred to the Baltic Sea.
31.07.1914:   Recommissioned and attached to the 4th Squadron.
26.08.1914:   Together with the Roon , Prinz Adalbert and Gazelle , the Elsass is send to assist the beached cruiser Magdeburg . After the destruction of the small cruiser, the operation is cancelled.
02-09.09.1914:   Operation in the eastern Baltic Sea.
11-20.09.1914:   Patrols at the Elbe estuary.
05.12.1914-01.04.1915:   Repairs.
24-28.02.1915:   Sent to the Baltic Sea.
02.04.1915:   Repairs in Kiel.
26.04-16.05.1915:   Again sent to the North Sea, patrols at the Elbe estuary.
27.05.-04.07.1915:   Sent to the Baltic Sea.
05.07.1915:   Operations in the eastern Baltic Sea.
18-19.07.1915:   Operations in the eastern Baltic Sea, collision with the torpedo boat G175 .
08.08.1915:   Short engagement with the Russian battleship Slava .
10.07.1916:   Because of crew shortages, the crew of the Elsass is reduced.
25.07.1916:   Used as stationary training ship in Kiel.
20.06.1918:   Decommissioned.
15.02.1924:   Recommissioned with reduced armament.
06-13.07.1924:   Visit to Vigo.
19.-24.06.1925:   Visit to Oslo.
26-30.06.1925:   Visit to Odde.
May - Jun 1926:   Exercises in the Atlantic and Mediterranean.
Apr - May 1927:   Exercises in the Atlantic and Mediterranean.
Winter 1928/29:   Because of the cold winter, the Elsass is used as a Ice-breaker in the Baltic Sea.
25.02.1930:   Decommissioned.
1936:   Ship is scrapped.
