Z7 Hermann Schoemann was operating in Norwegian waters as part of the 5th Z-Flottila until 1942. Then send to France to support Operation Cerberus  in February of 1942 and returned to Norway again. Together with Z24 and Z25 , Z7 Hermann Schoemann attacked the damaged British cruiser Edinburgh . In this battle, the destroyer was hit in the engine room and later and was sunk by torpedoes of Z24 on 02.05.1942 in the Barents Sea.
