10.05.1912:  Breslau is commissioned.
26.09.1912:  Attached to the reconnaissance forces of the Hochseeflotte.
12-20.09.1912:  Used as an escort vessel to the imperial yacht Hohenzollern during a voyage to Norway.
05.11.1912:  Assigned to the Mediterranean Squadron and sent to the Mediterranean Sea.
10.04.1913 - May 1913:  Part of the international blockade of the coast of Montenegro.
10.08-27.10.1913: 

Sent to Constantinopel.

March 1914:  Repairs at Trieste.
08.07.1914:  Joins the battlecruiser Goeben near Corfu.
02.08-10.08.1914:  Operations against French troop transports in the Mediterranean.
04.08.1914:  Coastal bombardment of Bona.
05-06.08.1914:  Visit to Messina.
07.08.1914:  Engagement with the British cruiser Glouchester . Breslau is hit once but not damaged.
10.08.1914:  Arrived at the Dardanelles.
16.08.1914:  Breslau is put under Turkish command and renamed to Midilli . The German crew stays on board and the ship is still commanded by its German commander.
27-31.10.1914:  Operations against Russians ships and bases in the Black Sea. 60 mines are laid near the Kerch strait,
causing the loss of two Russian merchant ships. Together with the Turkish torpedo cruiser Berk , Novorossiik is shelled.
07.11.1914:  Operations against Russians ships and bases in the Black Sea, coastal bombardment of Poti.
18.11.1914:  Battle of the Cape Sarych-. Together with the Goeben , Breslau engages 5 Russian battleships.
24-26.12.1914:  Operations against Russians ships and bases in the Black Sea, including a battle against the Russian battleship Rostislav . at dawn of the 24th, Breslau engages the Russian steamer Atos.
08-10.01.1915:  Operation with the Turkish cruiser Hamidieh , pursuit by the Russian cruisers Kagul and Pamiat' Merkuria .
27.01.1915:  Another Operation with the Turkish cruiser Hamidieh , again pursuit by the Russian cruisers Kagul and
Pamiat' Merkuria .
February 1915:  Repairs.
18.03.1915:  Coastal bombardment of Thedosia.
02-03.04.1915:  Operation together with the battlecruiser Goeben , sinking two Russian merchant ships.
10-11.06.1915:  Breslau is attacked by the Russian submarine Tyulen , but not hit. In the following battle against the
russian torpedo boats Gnevny and Derzky , Breslau is hit three times.
18.07.1915:  While escorting some coal transports, the Breslau is hit by mine laid by the Russian submarine Krab .
-27.02.1916:  Repairs, two 10,5 cm guns are replaced with 15 cm guns.
28.02.1916:  Battle against russian torpedoboats Pronzielny and Bezpooiny .
02.03.1916:  Battle against russian torpedoboats Gnevny and Schastilvy .
04.04.1916:  Pursuit by the Russian battleship Imperatrisa Ekaterina Velikaya , some minor damages on the Breslau .
04-05.05.1916:  Laid a mine field off Fidonisi Island.
05-08.05.1916:  Coastal bombardment of Eupatoria, laid another mine field off Sevastopol.
04.07.1916:  Coastal bombardment of Tuapse and Sochi.
22.07.1916:  Breslau is surprised by the Russian battleship Imperatrisa Marie , the cruiser Kagul and the torpedo boats Schastilvy , Derzky , Gnevny , Bezpokoiny and Pylkiy .  The cruiser was able to escape because of the weather conditions.
-April 1917:  All remaining 10,5 cm guns are replaced with 15 cm guns, a additional oil firing is added to the boilers.
24-25.05.1917:  Laid a minefield off Fidonisi island and destroys the lighthouse and telegraph station there.
25.06.1917:  After a mine operation, the Breslau is encountered by the Russian battleship Svobodnaya Rossoya and the torpedoboats Gnevny and Schastilvy .
19.01.1918:  Together with the Goeben , the Breslau is sent into the Aegean Sea and sinks two British monitors.
20.01.1918:  After hit by five mines, the Breslau sinks near the Island of Imbros. 330 member of the crew die.
