History

The Italian water tanker Garigiliano was captured by German troops on 13.09.1943. First used as escort vessel Dwarsläufer from
Novermber 1943 on, it was used as mine layer Oldenburg since February 1944. After an air attack on 12.05.1944, the engine room was destroyed. Repaired at the end of 1944 it was again used until the end of the war.

Renamed with its original name and used in its original task, the ship was used until 1952 when it was scrapped.
