The Uncle Sam is in scale 1/95, length 38 cm, heigth 22 cm and beam 12 cm.  Made by Atresania Latina S.A. (Spain), the instructions say that the model is from 1991.

The model is made completly out of wood, with additional metal parts. To make the model easier to build, the hull is pre-fabricated, so it must not be build frame-by-frame from scratch. While all planks of the model are made from four different kind of woods (Walnut, Sapelia, Mukali and Samba) the hull is made from "art wood" as the manufacturer calls it. This is a mixture of wood particles and fiber, mixed with adhesive resines.

Uncle Sam Kit 1 The open box with all parts of the model.

Uncle Sam Kit 2

The pre-fabricated hull and some of the routed plywood plates, containing the bigger parts like the main deck. Those plywood parts must be cut out of the plates and then covered with planks of better looking wood.

Uncle Sam Kit 3 The single wood planks and the metal detail parts. The planks have to be cut to the currect length and will be glued to the plywood base structures. Cutting the planks in the correct lenght must be done with care, otherwise some material will be missing in later steps of the model.
