Capture and fate
Three ships of the Italian Ciclone-class were captured in September 1932 in Portoferrario and Genoa. Being designed as escort vessels, they were first used in the 3rd escort division, later in the 10th T-Flottila at the Italian west coast. TA26 (former Intrepido) was commissioned on 18.12.1943, joining TA23 on its attacks on Bastia and Corsica. After the unsuccessful rescue attempt of TA23 in April 1944, the ship was sunk during another mine laying operation on 15.07.1944 by the American MTBs PT552, PT558 and PT559.
